What Is an Australian Quote?
An Australian quote is a written offer for products, services, or work. It tells the customer what you will provide and the price in Australian dollars before they decide to go ahead.
Use a quote when the scope and price are clear. A useful description says what the price covers, so the customer can compare the offer without having to ask which jobs or materials are included.
How to Create an Australian Quote
Set the currency to AUD, then work through the details below. Saving your quote does not send it; you choose when to email the finished offer.
- Business and ABN: Enter your business name, contact details, and Australian business number (ABN), if you have one.
- Your Logo: Add your logo to match the documents your customer already knows.
- The Customer: Choose a saved customer or enter the name and contact details for this offer.
- Number and Dates: Check the quote number and issue date. Set a valid-until date you can honour.
- Work and Prices: List the products or services with quantities and unit prices in AUD.
- GST and Total: Apply GST where required and check the complete price the customer will pay.
- Terms and Sending: Add timing and scope details in Terms and Conditions. Review, then email the quote or download a PDF.
Make the ABN, GST, and Total Easy to Find
Your ABN identifies your business. Business.gov.au recommends including it with your business name and contact details on a written quote. Use the customer's name and the job or delivery address too, when that helps identify the work.
If you are registered for GST, include it on taxable sales. If you are not registered, do not add GST. Some sales are GST-free, and some businesses must register. Check the government's GST guidance if you are unsure which rules apply.
For a consumer quote, follow the ACCC guidance on price displays: show a clear total that includes GST and any unavoidable charges. You can show the breakdown as well, but the customer should not have to add it up to find the full price. Label the currency AUD, especially if you also work with overseas customers.
How to Show the Work and GST in AUD
Give separately priced work its own row. Use hours for labour and a clear quantity for each product or service, so the customer can see what the total covers.

What to Include in Australian Quote Terms
Use the Terms and Conditions field to explain how the offer will work. Give the quote an expiry date, say how the work will be scheduled, and describe your payment terms. For delivery work, include the expected lead time and payment method where useful.
Use only the policies you actually offer. The sample below belongs to the garden tidy-up above; adapt it to your work and check requirements for your industry and state or territory.
Example: Terms and Conditions
- Quote valid until 11 October 2026. The work date will be agreed after acceptance.
- Covers the listed weeding, hedge trimming, and one trailer load of green waste. New plants and tree removal are not included.
- Any additional work will be priced and agreed in writing before it begins.
- Payment by bank transfer is due within 7 days of the invoice date.

After You Send the Australian Quote
Your customer can view the quote and accept or decline it online. Check the document history to see when the emailed quote was delivered and opened.
If the customer asks for different work, agree on the revised scope and price before starting the change. Update the quote and ask them to accept the new version.
