How to Fill In Carpet Estimate Line Items
Use the room measurements and cutting plan to calculate the carpet quantity. Carpet width, seams, pattern matching, stairs and room shape can require more material than the net floor area. Label every quantity with its pricing unit; do not mix square-foot quantities with square-yard prices.
This fictional two-room installation has 360 square feet of floor area. The cutting plan requires 396 square feet of carpet, including a 36-square-foot allowance. Padding, removal and installation use the 360-square-foot floor area. Prices are in US dollars, with an illustrative 8% tax on carpet and padding only.

Keep furniture moving, subfloor preparation, stairs, transitions and trim separate when they are not included in the installation price. This example assumes empty rooms and a subfloor ready for installation.
