Choose a Template for the Service You Completed

Start with the service your customer recognizes. Then add the property, date, billing period, work completed, and charges that apply to this visit or service plan.

Cleaning & Property Maintenance

Bill for one-time cleaning, recurring upkeep, maintenance visits, supplies, repairs, and other work completed at a home or commercial property.

Landscaping & Lawn Care

Bill for lawn visits, yard cleanup, seasonal work, planting, landscape projects, materials, equipment, and other outdoor services.

Choose a File Format

Use Word or Google Docs for a straightforward service invoice with flexible notes. Use Excel or Google Sheets when you need to total recurring visits, hours, materials, equipment, or several properties.

Prefer not to manage a separate file? Create the invoice online with Docelf. Docelf handles the totals and keeps the finished invoice with the rest of your documents.

What to Include on a Property or Home Service Invoice

Your customer should be able to match the charge to the property and the work. Include enough detail to explain the visit without turning the invoice into a job diary.

Use the same service names from one billing period to the next. Consistent descriptions make recurring invoices easier for both you and the customer to review.

Invoice One-Time Jobs and Recurring Service

For a one-time job, show the service date, work completed, materials, and any added charges. A deep cleaning, yard cleanup, landscape installation, or repair visit should be easy to connect to that specific day or project.

For recurring work, use a clear billing period and list each visit when the dates matter. You can also group regular services into a package and put one-time extras on separate lines.

Charge in the way that matches your agreement: by the visit, hour, square foot, service package, material, or project. When extra work changes the price, name the added work and show the charge instead of hiding it inside the regular service.

Before you send the invoice, check the property address, service dates, due date, total, and payment instructions. Those are the details property owners and managers look for first.
